The HVDU Confidence in Obama Debate:
The Videos and the Report
The HVDU presented its first event of 2010 by tackling one of the classics of the Oxford debate genre: the no-confidence debate. The "Confidence in the Obama Administration Debate" was held at Haverstraw Town Hall in Garnerville NY on Tuesday 9 February. Special thanks to Town Supervisor Howard Phillips for the hospitality.
Unfortunately, the event occurred the evening before a blizzard hit the Hudson Valley region. Forecasters had assured the public that the snow wouldn't start until after midnight. And the forecasters were right, but the fear of it spooked the expected crowd, so only about 20 hardy souls were there for the event.
I brought along my ancient VHS-C video camera to make sure that there was coverage. No media showed up. Fortunately, I was able to use the blizzard-induced down time to dub the tape onto DVD, and to edit the raw video into YouTube-ready packages.
It took a while to get these up, thanks to painfully slow YouTube uploading times, but we now can present -- The Confidence in The Obama Administration Debate Videos!
Here they are, in the order they occurred:
